Los Lobos

Welcome music lovers!  Ahhh, the intro to a fabulous show put on by Los Lobos at the Rialto Thursday night.  I have been lucky enough to catch them at the Rialto and at the Fairgrounds and even once at the Rodeo Grounds outside of Sells (anyone else go to that show?).  Last night's show ranks up near the top - they absolutely rocked everyone's socks off!
I was a little concerned when I found out there would be seating all the way down the floor to the stage practically.  Los Lobos without a dance floor?!  I get it that they (and the audience) are getting older and a chair is nice to have during a two-hour concert.  It didn't matter as David Hidalgo exhorted everyone to get up and dance for that final Bertha jam and everybody gladly did!
I usually write about books and don't have the adjectives to write about music - I will just say all those young jam bands can just go to the Los Lobos school of jamming and learn a thing or two.  Blistering guitar/accordion/sax/bass/drum solos.  Only one self-described senior moment, and only one flash of impatience from Cesar for less talk and more playing.
If you're new to listening to Los Lobos, I'd check out the live concert film Los Lobos Live At The Fillmore to get a sense of the energy they put into a show. Then just dip into their catalog - older, newer, it doesn't matter.  Los Lobos know how to rock and you will be joining me on the dance floor the next time they come to town.
