Goes Best With Clouds

James Farm.  This is not a person, but the band's name which is comprised of Joshua Redman, Aaron Parks, Matt Penman and Eric Harland.  Together with saxophone, piano, bass and drum they form the band, and part of the name James Farm
I'm glad I gave this jazz CD a try.  It has just the right blend of improvisation and calming melodies with a bit of Latin rhythms and Spanish/Middle Eastern flare thrown in for good measure, especially in the tracks Chronos and Coax.

The CD brings enough of a tangy, unusual mix that takes the band well out of the background music category.  The staccato piano in many of the pieces is bound to get your attention as will the endless variety featured on this album.  My favorites were some of the peppier tunes: Coax, Polliwog and 1981

Jazz fans, be sure to look for this catchy CD for something to listen anywhere and even drive home to--as I discovered an overcast sky as a backdrop provides a nice addition.

Happy listening!
